What is the process
of swimming pool construction?
There are three types of in ground pools- concrete,
fiberglass and vinyl liner.
1.
Concrete
Pool Construction- Concrete pools are also known as gunite pools. This type
of pool is constructed from scratch at the job site by using plaster, concrete,
and steel. After the excavation, steel rebar is tied in place as a part of
initial steps. After this, the concrete mix is poured into the excavation to
form a shell. Once, it sets tile, and coping work is done. Plastering is the
last step of this pool's construction process.
2.
Fiberglass
Pool Construction- This type of pool is built in two phases- manufacturing
and installation. It is crafted off-site and is then shipped to the
installation site as a single unit. Before the unit can fit, the site is
excavated and is layered with a base material. Then, the unit is lowered with a
crane or machine to sit in place of the evacuation. After the leveling of the
pool, the outside of it is treated with a special material to enhance its
durability. The last step includes filling the pool with water.
3.
Vinyl
Liner Pool Construction- The construction process of this type of pool uses
a special type of thin material known as a pliable liner which is as thick as
the thickness of ten sheets of paper bound together. The pool water is held in
a structure which is constructed using metal side walls and cemented floor.
How Long Does it Take
to Construct a Swimming Pool?
1.
Fiberglass
Pool- It usually costs three to six weeks to construct a fiberglass pool.
Installation of pool base of fiberglass pools is quick, and the pool is full of
water within the few days of the start of construction work.
2.
Concrete
Pool- On an average, it takes two to five months to construct a concrete
pool. It takes longer to build these types of pools because their fabrication
takes place completely at the site
3.
Vinyl
Liner Pool- The installation process of these pools is relatively quick.
What are Common
Swimming Pool Construction Problems?
There are two types of common problems associated with
swimming pools:
·
Leakage-
Pool fittings which include skimmer or return jets usually suffer water leakage
problems. This problem is not specific to any pool and can occur in all types;
however, there are some standard ways to prevent these depending on the type of
the pool.
·
Structural-
If the wall panels in vinyl liner pools are not secured with a concrete
footing, then the walls can shift or move. There are also potential chances of
pool breakage in case of concrete pools and fiberglass pools if they are
improperly installed.
