How Shall I Winterize RV or Boat?

Do you want to winterize your RV? If so, then perhaps you must be aware that winterizing an RV includes much more than putting antifreeze in the water system of the RV. Other components like ventilation, batteries, sealant, furl, bugs, etc. must be considered while preparing your RV for storage. Follow the below steps:

·         Store your RV in a covered storage facility. Avoid keeping it in trees and grass during storage.

·         Use an RV cover to cover its surface and protect it from mildew and mold that may develop during the storage session. Also, cover the tires after you inflate them. If you forget to cover the tires a flat spot may grow because of its zero movements.

·         Pull all blinds and covers down. It will protect RV's interior from outside environment and rodents. With this activity, you'll get to do a complete inspection of your RV and mend the distortions if any.

·         Turn off the main LPG supply and cover all the vents to protect insects and rodents from entering onside the vehicle.

·         Defrost its refrigerator and clean it before you lock the vehicle in the storage unit.  Put some baking soda and leave the refrigerator's door open. It will prevent any odor from developing.

·         Remove any perishable items from the vehicle and keep open all the drawers and cabinets.

·         A non-operational RV with a battery can cause damage to the power source (battery). Ensure you take out the negative terminal first. You need to keep a periodic check on the battery and will need to ensure it stays fully charged. Charging will prevent it from freezing.

·         Before you put your RV for storage, you will need to add fuel stabilizer to it. Run the engine to circulate the fuel in the entire system. Do not forget to come back and check your RV for any issues. At your every visit start your engine and let it run for some time.

·         Another essential task of storing RV is to change its oil and put the proper amount of anti-freezing material in the radiator.

·         Drain and flush the entire system of RV to prevent the parts from freezing.
